چکیده

Wave-particle dualism is at the very heart of quantum mechanics. It manifests itself mostprominently in the double-slit experiment that has given rise to a fascinating discussion of “which-slit” information versus interference. In the present talk we analyze [1,2] two recent experiments[3,4] reporting simultaneous observation of “which-slit” and interference. Moreover, we introduce thefirst atom interferometer with Bose Einstein-condensates in microgravity [5] presented in thesession following this talk.References[1] W.P. Schleich, K. Dechoum, M.J.A. Maxwell and the classical wave particle dualism.

Maxwell's equations are one of the greatest theoretical achievements in physics of all times. They have survived three successive theoretical revolutions, associated with the advent of relativity, quantum mechanics and modern quantum field theory. In particular, they provide the theoretical framework for the understanding of the classical wave particle dualism.

Optical solitons and wave-particle duality.

We investigate the propagation of optical solitons interacting with linear defects in the medium. We show that solitons exhibit a wave-particle dualism versus power, i.e., depending on the relative size of soliton and defect, responsible for a soliton trajectory dependent on its waist.

Interpretation of quantum mechanics by the double solution theory

EDITOR’S NOTE. In this issue of the Annales, we are glad to present an English translation of one of Louis de Broglie’s latest articles, as a kind of gift to all physicists abroad who are not well acquainted with the double solution theory, or do not read French. Louis de Broglie of course wrote the original paper in his mother tongue, which he mastered with utmost elegance, but perhaps conside...

Virtual Particle Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics - a non-dualistic model of QM with a natural probability interpretation

An interpretation of non-relativistic quantum mechanics is presented in the spirit of Erwin Madelung’s hydrodynamic formulation of QM and Louis de Broglie’s and David Bohm’s pilot wave models. The aims of the approach are as follows: 1) to have a clear ontology for QM, 2) to describe QM in a causal way, 3) to get rid of the wave-particle dualism in pilot wave theories, 4) to provide a theoretic...

Culmination of the Quantum theory in Sri Aurobindo’s poetic consciousness

The Quantum theory visualizes that uncertainty is the ultimate truth behind the dualism of wave and particle at the sub-atomic plane of Matter. It does not find any physical law capable of explaining the physical state in which the conversion of wave into particle and vice-versa takes place at the subatomic plane of Matter. In fact, the conversion evades all the physical laws on account of whic...
